Celeste House, the only place in the world where I have a napkin with my name embroided on it waiting for me (thanks for the photo Hans!)

Celeste House
Located in a three story old town house in the Anzures neighbourhood of Mexico City, Celeste House has a different function on each of its floors: a concept store on the ground floor, a beauty clinic on the first floor, and a tea room/champagne bar on the second floor. Celeste House is the brainchild of the editors of Celeste Magazine, the couple formed by art curator/business entrepreneur Vanesa Fernandez and her husband, artist Aldo Chaparro, who have now made a live version of their magazine.

ground floor:
Celeste Concept Store. The store has selected objects and products from around the world collected from a Victorian perspective of travel, antique, old and new, from selected books, music, fossils, jewellery, fur duvets, stationary, cigars, orchids, rare crafts, antiques, contemporary design for the house, stuffed animals, silver, mammoth ivory, as well as fashion items, from very young Mexican designers created especially for Celeste to Christian Louboutin shoes, as well as lingerie and traditional Tardan hats with the option to have them tailor made to the exact size and shape of your head.

first floor: Botica Cebeth. Located inside Celeste House, Botica Cebeth is like a XXI century apothecary with a revolutionary homeopathic treatment called ‘phytotherapy’ for the skin (phytotherapy is the use of plant extracts for healing purposes). Unique to the world, this service designs comprehensive treatments and fully personalized formulas to obtain accumulative and long-lasting results. A visit to Cebeth includes a tailor made treatment delivered in old-school apothecary bottles, and extraordinary skin results.

second floor: The Celeste Champagne Tea Room is located in a terrace and has skylights on the roof. An English tea room during the day and a bar at night, it also has a smoking room with a chimney. It is also the only place in the country that sells Pimms. Celeste House serves proper English afternoon tea (scones, clotted cream, elaborate pastries and cucumber sandwiches). There is also a menu for lunch or dinner consisting of game dishes, and delicatessens. The smoking room furniture has been designed by Aldo Chaparro, while the silver (tea set, strainers, flower vase, champagne bucket, etc) were designed by Vanesa Fernández and hand made by one of the oldest silversmith families in Mexico.

Obama Bars Boeing From South Carolina

Not found in the Roanoke Times: The Obama team is preventing Boeing from producing planes in South Carolina because it is a “Right to Work” State.

Obama and his team have undertaken an unprecedented action in “directing” where a company or business can or cannot do business within the United States.
No other administrations have ever undertaken such a Communist control of the Free Enterprise System in this country. No wonder he calls his henchmen “Czars”.
-
Hopefully this case can be resolved in favor of the American Free Enterprise System before Obama’s liberal-leftwing-activist judges totally reduce this country to a socialist and fascist state right before our eyes.
-
How can anyone who believes in the "American System" and voted for Obama not have voter remorse?
He is a bigger disappointment and is doing more damage than Jimmy Carter!

Space-based information for Crowdsource Mapping - UN Conference on Disaster Management and Emergency Response

From our daily mail. David Stevens, Head of  the Vienna based UN-SPIDER sent the following circular letter:

"Dear Colleagues,
The "United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response - UN-SPIDER" was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2006 with the following mission statement: "Ensure that all countries and international and regional organizations have access to and develop the capacity to use all types of space-based information to support the full disaster management cycle". Our ultimate aim is to help disaster management organisations access and use space-based information to support their work.
One of the core activities of the UN-SPIDER programme is the provision of technical advisory support to countries, including carrying out technical advisory missions. During these missions a team of experts meets with key disaster management authorities in the Government, UN agencies, regional and international organizations/initiatives and private entrepreneurs to discuss, make recommendations and develop guidelines to enhance the use of space-based information in disaster management. The purpose is to assess the current use of space-based technology and information for disaster management and emergency response, identify potential areas where space-based technology and information could play a greater role and contribute to improving the access to space-based technology and information.
The following Technical Advisory Missions are planned for the next 4 months:
    - Technical Advisory Mission to Sudan from 22-26 May 2011  - Technical Advisory Mission to Cameroon from 7-10 June 2011 - Technical Advisory Mission to Nigeria from 13-17 June 2011  - Technical Advisory Mission to Bangladesh from 20-24 June 2011 - Technical Advisory Mission to Sri Lanka from 8-12 August 2011
If your organisation is interested in providing support by joining one or more of these missions please do send an e-mail to us (un-spider@unoosa.org) stating which country and the name of the expert being recommended to join the mission.
Then as part of the one-year project “Space-based information for Crowdsource Mapping” we are organising a UN-SPIDER International Expert Meeting: Crowdsource Mapping for Preparedness and Emergency Response in Vienna, Austria from 5-6 July 2011. I am attaching the First Announcement of the Expert Meeting. If you are interested in participating we would welcome receiving an application from you. Please see the information and registration details at: http://www.un-spider.org/crowdsource-mapping
Thank-you for the support provided. Thank-you for your interest in the activities we organise. Please check regularly our knowledge portal for additional activities and news (http://www.un-spider.org)
