Conference devoted to Geoinformatics in the framework of the Visegrad Countries


Ms.Andrea Majlingova, member of the Local Organising Committee sent an invitation to the members of HUNAGI two days ago:
"Preparing Conference is oriented on presentation of works of internal and external Ph.D. students coming from Czech republic, Slovak republic, Poland and Hungary, who are in their works interested in Geoinformatics theory or its application into particular spheres of social life. The articles will be published in reviewed proceedings. HUNAGI confirmed its readiness to host the EUROGI's Autumn ExCom Meeting

The tentative offer was made at the recent ExCom Meeting held in Madrid. Now, the confirmation based on the approval of the Presidential Board of HUNAGI was submitted to the EUROGI Secretariat today.

Workshop Description
The workshop is a paramount opportunity for GIS experts, coming from research institutions, industry and administrations to meet and exchange information and experiences. The main focus of the event is to analyse the INSPIRE Directive (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) from a technical point of view and present the results of the recent EU projects in this field.
In particular the program of the workshop aims to share information on issues related to international data models and analyse the INSPIRE Directive as a legislative and methodological framework for all EU Member States.
GIS experts from academia, government, research organisations and industry are welcome to submit the abstracts of their latest work for oral presentation at the workshop.
Themes
The program committee welcomes papers in all areas of INSPIRE theme and we particularly encourage contributions in
# INSPIRE testing and application;
# Instruments and tools for data modelling versus INSPIRE model;
# Geospatial Web Services - services and geodata sharing by the web
# Multilanguage aspects on geodatabase
# Impact of SDI on Europe - experiences with current spatial data infrastructures at local, regional, national level under the Inspire directive
# Cost-benefit assessment for INSPIRE implementation
Authors' guidelines
Authors are required to submit their abstracts by e-mail within 27 February 2009.
Submission of an abstract is mandatory for submitting a paper.

Oral Presentation and Proceedings
After notification of accepted abstracts, each author is required to prepare:
Oral presentation: each author has 15 minutes of presentation including discussion and is supported by slides and Power Point presentation (in any case the duration of the presentation depends on the number of papers).
All presentations will be uploaded during the Congress with a USB Key or a CD-Rom.
Papers: the oral presentation is mandatory for the publication of paper in the Proceedings of "Towards INSPIRE International Workshop".
Authors are invited to submit their full papers in a Word file, no later than 30 April 2009

Hungary applied for CLGE membership

In Hungary CLGE membership is represented by the Hungarian Geodetic Surveying Liasion Group formed by three professional organisations as follow: Hungarian Society of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (MFTTT) and Hungarian Chamber of Engineers, Chapter Geodesy and Geoinformatics (MMK) and Hungarian Association of Enterpreneurs in Surveying and Geoinformatics (MFGVE). The permanent delegate is Mr. László Gombás, geodetic surveyor, executive manager of the Leica Geosystems Hungary. HUNAGI was proactive in the preparation of the establishment of the CLGE Hungaria Liaison Group initiated by Dr. Szabolcs Mihály, President of MFTTT and General Director of FÖMI.

CAGI-HUNAGI talks using Skype

Hungarian experts applied for the GMES for Africa consultation process

HUNAGI recommended six Hungarian experts so far for the consultation process of GMES for Africa based on the Call signed by the Head of the GMES Bureau in Brussels. The invitation to submit experts was received by the GSDI Association. The selection will be made based on the submitted CVs of the recommended experts.

Thailand: Princess Mother 9th Cycle Birthday commemorative coin issued



Six different coins for three denominations have been issued to mark the 9th cycle (108th) birthday of Somdej Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani 21 Oct 1900 – 18 Jul 1995). Somdej Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani or simply HRH Princess Mother was mother of two kings of Thailand, HM King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII) and HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX).



The three denominations are cupro-nickel 20 Baht, silver 800 Baht and gold 16,000 Baht. All three denominations come with 2 varieties – standard and polished (proof) making it a total of 6 different coins.

Thailand: New signature banknotes in circulation



20, 100 and 1000 Baht banknotes with signature 80 are in circulation. This variety has signatures of Suchart Tadatamrongwet (สุชาติ ธาดาธำรงเวช) as Finance Minister and Tarisa Watanagase (ธาริษา วัฒนเกส) as Governor of BOT. Suchart Tadatamrongwet served between 24 Sep 08 and 19 Dec 08 which is one of the shortest term for a Finance Minister in Thai history.
