Obama Sloughed Off Iranian Threats

Roanoke Times, 1-4-12, Pg 5: Obama sloughed off a warning from Tehran over the deployment of a US aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf

Sloughed means: “something cast off, discarded or shed”.
But it also means: “a deep muddy hole or swampy area”.

So, Obama, our esteemed Commander-in-Chief, thinks there’s no risk to our troops and assets from the Iranian Republican Guards. Perhaps Obama should review the file on the Iraqi shelling of the U.S. Navy guided missile frigate USS Stark (FFG 31) with two Exocet missiles that completely disabled the ship and killed 35 American crewmen.

Or perhaps Obama should watch the video of the Argentine Exocet missiles that struck and sank the HMS Sheffield during the Falklands war.

Perhaps a Community Organizer who has never been in harms way thinks the Iranian military are little more than bluster, however, an aircraft carrier, or any ship, passing through the Straight of Hormuz to or from the Arabian Sea is at very high risk because Iran wraps Oman like a horseshoe with a channel only 50 miles wide; well within range of even the most basic surface-to-surface rockets.
Also, Passage from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal is vulnerable to many types of attack that are very difficult to defend against in a hostile county now that the Muslim Brotherhood are in charge of Egypt!
As the Muslim Brotherhood co-opts the so called Arab-springs, the US and its allies will soon be unable to exercise even a minimal level of control or influence in an area upon which we have key dependencies.

Obama has tried for three years to appease and kowtow to the Iranian’s. Not only hasn’t that worked, it has emboldened them to a level not seen since they took our Embassy in 1979 under Obama’s mentor Jimmy Carter’s “leadership”.

Not only is Obama tone-deaf to this risk to our foreign oil dependency but at the same time he is doing all possible to shut down our domestic oil and coal energy supplies and generation and has deferred to after his reelection the decision on the Keystone oil pipeline from Canada to our refineries on the Gulf.
