Yet More Roanoke Times Petty Bias and Slant

Roanoke Times, 1-16-10, Pg 9: Heading: McDonnell Inauguration costs fall to state taxpayers. Virginia will spend about $240,000 on today’s swearing-in ceremony at the Capital in Richmond. Picture of Gov-Elect McDonnell with heading: Aiming to raise $1.5 million for inauguration events.
-
Ah yes! Those darn spend-thrift Republicans! Cavorting around at the taxpayer’s expense. And aren’t they the one’s always talking about cutting taxes?
-
However, buried in the article is a reference to the $325,000 of taxpayer’s money that was spent on outgoing DEMOCRAT Gov Tim Kaine’s Inauguration.
-
That’s a 26% reduction isn’t it? How about that for this news item headline!
-
Also buried in the article is the fact that Kaine and Mark Warner raised more private contributions for their festivities than the $1.5 million McDonnell is targeting to raise from private contributors.
-
Perhaps the real political news items of the day are that much to the chagrin of the Liberals and Democrats, the Republican team is being swept into office with an amazing Virginia voter landslide. The results in NJ are equally notable and the current close US Senate race in Mass. is amazing, regardless of the final outcome. How could “Teddy’s” 50-year chair in the Senate possibly be in too-close-to-call contention?
-
It’s amazing how small and petty and partisan the editorial board of the Roanoke Times really are. However, they are tenacious. They will scour every item on the news wires to find and then slant an item to perpetuate their liberal, left-wing pro-Democrat agenda.
Apparently in their narrow minded way they are making a contribution to their personal cause and ignoring their real mission to provide a fair and balanced news source to the people of the Roanoke area. And then they wonder why their business is shrinking.
