UN-SPIDER on YouTube

From our daily mail: Miss Michele Kasdano, Consultant of the
United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster
Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) at the
UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) wrote in her letter this morning:
"It is with great pleasure that we invite you to view our UNOOSA /
UN-SPIDER promotional movie now posted on YouTube.
Produced in April of this year, the movie embodies yet another step in the
burgeoning UN-SPIDER awareness-raising campaign, capturing the essence of
what UN-SPIDER is all about. It taps into our efforts and activities as
part of the U.N. Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) framework,
providing valuable insight into our programme and highlighting the ways in
which we go about implementing our mandate.
Additionally, it offers a brief overview of the disaster management and
space communities, depicting ways in which these two can be brought
together. Throughout this short video, you will also witness theory morph
into practice, as it guides you through the sequence of events and
UN-SPIDER’s response following the Namibia 2009 floods.
Moreover, it familiarizes the viewer with the unfolding version of the
UN-SPIDER Knowledge Portal and with the means to navigate through the
prospective Space Application Matrix. Finally, the movie introduces the
people and minds behind UN-SPIDER and illustrates the ways in which their
work has been contributing to the prominence and success of the UN-SPIDER
Programme.
You can locate it by searching for UN-SPIDER on YouTube or by accessing
the link directly:

Naturally, those of you with a good internet connection (bandwidth) are
encouraged to choose and view the High Definition (HD) version of the
movie.
We hope that this movie will prove to be up to your expectations and that
it will indeed help get our message through. We also smile upon efforts to
forward this movie to members of your respective organizations and support
us in its dissemination.
PS: For those of you who are present on more than one of our mailing
lists, we apologize for the email recurrence."
