Obama: We Don’t Need No Energy Independence or Energy Jobs

-
Obama rejects the Keystone Pipeline in compliance with directions from his Sierra Club and Goreite supporters.
“The United States has, in essence, surrendered its place at the front of the line to purchase Canadian oil.”

“Checking his sundial and solar-powered calendar, Barack Obama has decided that he did not have enough time to study the impact of the $7 billion Keystone XL pipeline from Canada, so he killed it. That was the excuse for halting a project that could have created 20,000 jobs, brought 830,000 barrels of oil a day to Texas refineries and helped free America from unstable dictators’ stranglehold on our energy supply.”

Robert Hurt Response To The Administration's Decision To Block The Keystone XL Pipeline Wed Jan 18, 2012
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Robert Hurt (R-VA) today released the following statement after the President formally denied permit approval for the Keystone XL Pipeline:
“At a time when far too many Central and Southside Virginians are out of work, I am disappointed to hear that the President has rejected a bipartisan-supported proposal that would both preserve and create jobs for thousands of Americans and stimulate our national economy.
“The Keystone XL Pipeline project would immediately create thousands of new jobs, preserve jobs that will now be lost, encourage private investment into our stalled economy, and serve as a positive step toward economic recovery by increasing our nation’s energy independence and reducing the pain at the pump, in the 5th District and across the country.
“Scaling back onerous regulations and paving the way for energy independence are two of the ways in which we can help get our economy back on track, and pro-growth policies that spur job creation, like the advancement of the Keystone XL Pipeline project, should not be delayed at the expense of the American people. Central and Southside Virginians have waited far too long for Washington to advance policies that will get our economy pointed in the right direction, and denial of the Keystone XL Pipeline permit continues us in the wrong direction -- on the path of stalled economic growth due to rejection of policies which achieve energy independence and promote job growth at a time when we need it most.”
