Yet Another Abuse Of Our National Anthem

-
Roanoke Times, 1-23-12, Pg 2: Before Patriots eked out a win, Tyler shrieked out the national anthem.
-
Yet again a National audience was exposed to the Abuse Of Our National Anthem, this time by Steven Tyler at the Ravens-Patriots game.
-
Apparently the promoters of this professional function were unable to find a person who is a professional singer who knows the words to our National Anthem and who is capable of singing it in a proper and respectful manner.
-
Such a person was chosen last year:
Carrie Underwood - NFL National Anthem

The public reaction to this abuse of a National Treasure is interesting; ranging from disapproval to it’s OK to it’s too hard to sing and too hard to remember and besides it’s too militaristic.
Yes it’s militaristic! The Bloody British were burning the City and Capital of Washington to the ground and were pounding Baltimore with cannon fire! It was a repeat of the Revolutionary War only 46 years prior.
-
This Country, like many countries of the world, was born in bloody war. We were then repeatedly attacked over the years as adversaries challenged our freedom and liberty and very existence. This is not just history – its 9-11 and Fort Hood and a daily struggle to find, fix, fight and finish those who spend their days devising ways to kill us.
-
The National Anthem is not just a song – if you want music get I-tunes.
The National Anthem, like our Flag and our Pledge of Allegiance, is a public pronouncement of our respect and dedication to our Great Country and our commitment to support our Liberty and Freedom.

We also don’t need a rerun of Rene Marie, a Roanoke native, who shocked Denver with her version of national anthem. I pulled a switcherroonie on them she told the Denver Post. Roanoke Times, 7/3/08, Pg A2
